today's domestic lesson

today's domestic lesson, originally uploaded by Sophie_vf.
If you find an old package of biscuit mix in the cupboard, do not say "yay!"
Say "I don't remember when we bought this stuff" and do not proceed to ruin perfectly good saskatoons by making stale-tasting biscuits with them. I'm sorry, saskatoons.

I do love to discover new words and new ingredients and this post allowed me to do both, thank you! I doubt I'll be able to find saskatoons in Sydney, Australia but I'll be asking for biscuits with them in when we visit our friends in Kentucky - so I can taste them AND find out exactly what 'biscuits' are.

I'm very much enjoying your blog, by the way, we seem to have a similar group of obsessions :)

Thanks so much for dropping by! Well, saskatoons might still be hard to find in Kentucky, but you might get blueberries or huckleberries - also yummy.

I had a wonderful week or so in Sydney decades ago when I was backpacking through Aus/NZ. I think our biscuits are not too different from your scones, though in Kentucky they are very likely to serve them with gravy. Thanks again!
